by Raphaella Kaore – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Today saw a number of coaches from other centres around the country attend the swimming coaching clinic under the FINA rules at the Taurama Aquatic center.

John Bladon was on hand to lead the session, aimed primarily to educate and improve participants their coaching skills and to teach the upcoming and junior swimmers in their respective centre.

This swimming program is also engaged to develop and teach school children the right techniques and skills of swimming.

Swimming PNG President, Elizabeth Wells, said today’s clinic was to get the coaches and managers to fully understand the basic techniques of swimming, as well as learning other important skills in order to properly carry out their swimming lessons as coaches.

With our newly build swimming facilities; PNG can produce better and athletes around the country, Bladon stated.

The coaching clinic will continue for five days and end this Saturday.
