Casper Damien Appointed as New Acting Executive Director for National Cultural Commission

The National Cultural Commission has a new Acting Executive Director.

The appointment of Casper Damien has been Gazetted and the announcement was made today by the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Tobias Kulang.

Former Executive Director Dr. Jacob Simet thanked the Minister Kulang for finally putting the matter to rest.

In just his second month in office as Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Tobias Kulang, is seen to be putting agencies under his portfolio in order.

The issue of the position of the Executive Director of the National Cultural Commission has been ongoing until today’s announcement of the acting appointment of Casper Damien.

The appointment of Collin Taimbari by former Minister Justin Tkatchenko was revoked.

Former Executive Director Dr. Jacob Simet said his last contract lapsed in 2011 and he had been acting in the position for the past 5 years.

Mr Damien thanked Dr. Simet for his immense work in the NCC and acknowledged his wealth of experience and knowledge.

Minister Kulang said the NCC would maintain the services of Dr. Simet in other avenues. Mr Damien will restart the process of appointment and re-advertise for the position of a Permanent Executive Director of the NCC.
