Calls Not To Destroy Hela Integrity

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The Hela political struggle is still continuing with alleged breaches of electing new assembly members now being brought to light.

Komo Magarima MP, Francis Potape, today called on Anderson Agiru not to destroy the integrity of the Hela Assembly. Potape said he will be writing to the Ombudsman Commission to investigate Agiru’s actions during the past four weeks.

“Agiru’s actions are not right and assembly processes must be followed”, Potape said.

He today called on Agiru to stop the political nonsense and follow assembly standing orders.

“I will write to the ombudsman commission to investigate the alleged actions by Anderson Agiru,” said Potape.

A series of decisions were handed down in the two meetings, which Potape described as illegal. He says his team has remained calm while waiting for the Supreme Court decision, however Agiru has appointed non-members of the assembly to make decisions that are crucial for the province.

It is now less than eight days until the Supreme Court rules on the leadership tussle for the Hela Governor’s seat.

Meanwhile, the Department of Provincial Affairs and Local Level Government (LLG) has sent a circular to all provinces that failed LLGs will remain until supplementary elections are conducted.
