The talk on Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in PNG continues afterthe Madang SME Summit in our last episode.
Executive Director ofthPNG Business Council Douveri Henao, in an interview with BusinessPNG provides a post-mortem ofthe Summitogiving an analysis ofthe Madang Declaration Communiqué that was put togther fromthe Summitoand echoesthe Business Council’s view on this andthe need for government to create an incubating space for local SMEs.
He analysesthe effects of this oPNG’s foreign relations.
Also duringthe interview, Mr Henao stresses onthe essence of local SME operators need to possess financial and business literacy.
Mr Henao also stressesthe need for an intellectual body of knowledge to be inplace, based on SMEs and how to help SME operators. Another critical point that came out ofthe Madang SME Summit wasthe proposal to adoptthe Bemi Putra model of Malaysia forPNG rsquo;s SME’sector. Mr Henao givesthe Council’s point of view and suggests ther successful models to be considered as well.
