After two weeks demolition of the Saint Peter’s Catholic Church at Laloki outside Port Moresby occurred, believers have built a small tent to serve as a place of worship.
For the past 15 nights following the destruction, mothers have been gathering in front of the destroyed church praying not only for a new church but for justice to take its cause.
All remains of the church are still sitting untouched; with nothing removed and cleared by the new landlord as yet.
The church was demolished on August 11 through an eviction exercise. It has been sitting on customary land through a mutual agreement between the catholic church and the landowners.
Chairman of Saint Peter the Rock, Francis Anio says while waiting for the church hierarchy to advise on the next action, they have been using this as a prayer venue.
