Concerned residents approached the EMTV Lae Office with an abandoned child.
The boy, Junior Ben Petrus, was found at the Morobe Park, Voco Point after he was left behind by a boat operator.
Seven-year-old, Junior Ben Petrus, says he comes from Oro province and Mendi, in the Southern Highlands and resides with his widowed mother in Popondetta.
He is currently residing with Robert Gawi, and family, at the Bumbu Settlement in Lae.
The family are appealing for his parent or guardians to come forward.
