By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) , Dame Meg Taylor, wants to see development in the Pacific to be dictated more by Pacific people’s interest.

In an exclusive interview with EM TV, Taylor says PIFS will push for high political and economic agencies.

Taylor, wants to see Pacific leaders drive forward development agendas in the Pacific.

She states that PIFS will push for a greater consultation, prioritising high economic and political agenda in the Pacific Islands Leaders forum, in September this year in Port Moresby.

Taylor said the Pacific region has been dictated for too long by donor partners and development agenda.
“Leaders must act now because it is the right timing for the Secretariat”, Taylor said.

On the same note, Dame Meg Taylor said PNG has more work to do in terms of addressing women issues of violence, access of education and health services.

She will be the keynote speaker at the 2nd National Women’s Forum that will start tomorrow, Monday 9 March in Port Moresby.
