The Kokoda Trail is one of the world’s greatest treks.
The Kokoda trail runs 96 kilometres overland from Papua New Guinea’s Northern Province to the Central Province.
The trail marks one of the most significant battles fought by the Australians and Papua New Guineans in World War Two.
The first female guide on Kokoda, Pam Christie, made her 60th crossing of the Kokoda trail today with youths from the Australian Victoria Youth Program.
Some of the youths described the journey as a life changing experience, giving them the courage to overcome challenges they face in their everyday lives.
Originally from New Zealand, Pam has lived in Papua New Guinea for 26 years and has been promoting the entire region of PNG as a tourist destination for trekking since 2002 through her Trekking Company, PNG Trekking Adventures.
