A workshop aimed at training accountants in the area of financial reporting has seen 30 people from the sector attend the sessions this week in Lae.
Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) facilitated the workshop, attended by accountants from more than five corporate businesses.
CPA PNG ran the accountancy training at Lae’s International Hotel in an effort to better prepare local accountants for working with international clients.
30 professional accountants were taught on the standards of international financial reporting at the one-day workshop.
PWC professional accountant, Steven Bech, facilitated the training.
“It’s very important that accountants in industry, in commerce – who are preparing accounts, together with auditors who are auditing those accounts have a thorough understanding of the latest developments in accounting standards,” Bech said.
Some of the practicing accountants have been in the field for many years and are well versed with their professional standards.
The workshop taught them an accounting skill that can help them to meet international standards.
CPA PNG continues to encourage such trainings to improve local accounting expertise.
