Yangoru Starts Major Electrification Project

by Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, West Yangoru

Winge village in Yangoru-Saussia District is the first village in West Yangoru to have full access to electricity.

Part of the National Government’s investment into the Sepik Economic Zone, a major rural electrification project, will be carried out by PNG Power Limited to connect all LLGs in Yangoru and Saussia before the start of the major agriculture project in the Sepik Plains.

Member for Yangoru-Saussia and Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister, Richard Maru during the launch yesterday in Winge, said the electrification project will help build the basic infrastructure of the Sepik agriculture project.

“We will have major investors here in this part of East Sepik in the next three to five years and we must have electricity to boost their operations so they can deliver to us their services,” Maru said.

PNG Power Executive Director John Mangos who launched the power project said PNG Power will commit itself to make sure the project is delivered to the people on time.

“PNG Power has gone through a lot of problems, but I assure you that we are concentrating to deliver a better service to our customers and a reliable power supply in PNG,” Mangos said.
