With the development of technology, user demand on networks continuously change and in order to meet the evolving needs of users, operators are required to adapt to meet these changes.

Telecom Fiji Limited has partnered with Huawei to deploy the first ultra-fast fiber broadband in the South Pacific Islands. Both Telecom Fiji and Huawei jointly announced the successful deployment of its 10G Passive Optical all fiber network – the ultra-fast fiber broadband and first of its kind in the islands of the South Pacific region.

The network will provide Giga-band network access service for Fijian households as well as enterprises.

This 10G Passive Optic Network (10GPON) technology differentiates itself from traditional copper wire technology by providing a maximum of 10Gbps download speed. The utilisation of this Optical Distribution Network enables the provision of a 1Gbps/xGbps access rate with faster speed, higher reliability and lower latency.  This covers all scenarios including home broadband and enterprise customers.

General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Telecom Fiji, Joseph Naua, said the competitiveness of our fixed broadband in Fiji will significantly enhance after the adoption of Huawei’s super 10G Fiber Broadband.

He said Telecom Fiji is paving the way in the local telecommunications industry by launching the 10GPON Solution.

“The faster and more reliable Giga-band connections make it possible for our customers to enjoy 4K/8K videos, smart home services and high-speed enterprise interconnections. We are confident that this will enable us to maintain our technological leadership in the South Pacific island markets.”

Mr. Wenyu Li, Sales Director of Huawei Fiji, stated that with the help of the 10GPON access network, TFL can soon provide rich digital services including multi-channel 4K/8K/VR, smart home and so on to Fijian households and SMEs.

“In future, we will continue to innovate in order to bring the latest, the best, and the most cost-effective solutions to support business success for our customers.”
