By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

All businesses in the country must be registered says the Trade Commerce Minister, Wera Mori. Minister Mori says the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) is the appropriate agency to screen all application for the business to operate under the laws of the country.

“IPA has its procedures to screen every application for any investment in the country”, said Minister Mori.

He says no company will operate illegally in the country. All businesses must adhere to the guidelines of IPA.

Recently in Parliament, a number of members from both the Government and the Opposition queried about the hike in foreign companies operating in the country. Questions were also raised on many who have become development partners for some provinces and districts.

Minister Mori says IPA is an independent Government agency playing a vital role so businesses must comply. For the ongoing debate on the ‘Yumi Yet PNG Company’, Minister Mori concluded that the particular company is registered. He says he has confirmed documentation and proof of an IPA registration.
