Ted Diro Primary Vows To Take Tough Stand On Bullying

by Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

Ted Diro Primary School has vowed to take a tough stand on bullying.

This follows yesterday’s EM TV News report on the attack on one of its students by his fellow peers on the school grounds.

Head Teacher, Hane Charlie, condemned the actions of the students involved, saying disciplinary measures will be taken against them.

Ted Diro Primary School is not taking school bullying lightly. This morning, staff convened an urgent meeting to address this issue.

Their response follows an incident involving one of their students which was exposed by his parent through the media yesterday.

The school has a behavioral management policy in place to deal with students’ disciplinary matters.

Ms Charlie says, the school was in the process of completing and compiling its report on the recent incident when it went to the media, but this will not stop the school from doing its part.

The students involved were apprehended by PNGDF Military police yesterday and locked up at the juvenile detention centre at Boroko, but were later released.

The parent of the victim is still adamant on taking legal action.
