St. Francis Primary School Opens Teacher’s House

A primary school in the Central Province celebrated the opening of a much needed teacher’s house.

For the St. Francis Primary School in the Kairuku-Hiri District, one more teacher’s house guarantees the presence of teachers in the school.

Local Member of Parliament, Peter Isoaimo, was in the area for the event. He was given a warm welcome to the St. Francis of Assisi Primary School.

The Head Teacher thanked the local MP for the K50,000 assistance that went towards building the house.

The school has 12 teachers, and 228 students. Mr. Isoaimo said education in the Central Province has seen a drop since the peak days enjoyed in the 1970’s and 80’s. But lately he said Education Officers he’s been travelling with have been giving some positive feedback.

The importance of teachers houses especially in rural schools ensures teachers are present and that the children are given quality education.

Mr. Isoaimo officially opened the house, which was named the Namea House, after the MP. He also gave K10,000 to boost the nearby Inauabui Elementary School.
