An industrial fire in Port Moresby’s Hohola suburb has completely destroyed the Shorna Holdings, a store owned and operated by Indian nationals.
Most of the goods and items were destroyed in the fire but fortunately, there were no casualties.
The fire started at around 11pm last night, just after the heavy downpour in Port Moresby.
The Fire Service and police were alerted and both responded.
This was the scene this morning, with most of the goods and store items destroyed in the fire.
Eyewitnesses described the flames as high as two metres and could be seen from the other side of Hohola.
Since 11pm, Hohola Police guarded the scene and prevented opportunists from looting nearby shops.
