Road Maintenance to see Middle-Watut area access basic government services

A feeder road neglected by Morobe Provincial Government for twenty-five years ago is now being fixed.

The maintenance of the road is done through a partnership of Bulolo District and its local level governments.

The Middle-Watut area of Mumeng LLG will now benefit from government services that were denied twenty-five years ago.

The Banglu Wawas feeder road was left idle by the Morobe Provincial Government, when Bulolo District together with its Local Level Government decided to partner in maintaining the road.

Member for Bulolo, Sam Basil said through the District’s sustainability Program, a new DE 5 bulldozer machine was purchased through the DSIP fund to maintain the middle watut road.

In the past, sick patients, especially children are often carried by their mothers for nearly a day walk, before they reach the main road that access transports, when seeking medical treatment.

The continuous maintenance of the road will now help ease difficulties faced by the locals.

A mother from middle Watut, during the launching of an aid post that was established as a result of the road maintenance, shared her experience when seeking government services.

The road maintenance will continue to Warrior in Bulolo Districts, and other areas of the district.

Basil said a two lane road is part of the sustainability program in the district.
