The Public Prosecutor has requested the Chief Justice to appoint a tribunal to enquire into misconduct allegations against Maprik MP, John Simon.
In a statement late this afternoon, Public Prosecutor Pondros Kaluwin revealed there is a prima-facie case against Mr. Simon, after considering the matter brought forward by the Ombudsman Commission.
The allegations against Mr. Simon, relate to;
•Benefits paid to the Member’s Hire Car company, totaling more than K200,000;
•Benefits to the Members construction company of more than K1.3 million;
•Misappropriation of K48,500 from the Maprik DSIP Funds; and
•Using his office to benefit the leader’s associates and associate companies – with payments of K45,832 being paid from the Maprik Treasury Operating Account.
The decision to request the Chief Justice to establish a Tribunal was made on the 7th of this month.
