Potape Stands for Retrial

By Vasinatta Yama – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Komo-Magarima MP, Francis Potape, will stand for a four-day retrial at the Waigani Supreme Court.

Potape was convicted in January 2015 on one count of conspiracy and two counts of misappropriation in relation to K330,000 of public funds.

While Potape served his two and half years in Bomana prison, he resituated the fund and filed his appeal at the Supreme Court.

The court quashed his conviction, and set aside his sentence, after considering relevant laws and submissions from counsel.

Potape’s trial will start this Friday, and end on Tuesday, July 12.

The trial judge will be Justice George Manuhu.
