ThrePNG cricketers have been selected for the ICC East Asia-Pacific (EAP) squad to representthe region atthe Australian Country Cricket Championships in Canberra next month.
PNG cricket legend, Rarua Dikana, was named as head coach for the second year running.
The championship will run fromthe 7sup>th tothe 14th of January next year.
Players from four nations will feature in a side that will showcase some ofthe most exciting young talent that is emerging from acrossthe region.
The fouPNG players selected are; Jason Kila, John Bege Vera who is alsothe Vice Captain, Dogodo Beu and Riley Hekure.
Despitethe new look EAP side that will be missing somPNG Barramundis players, who will be taking part inthe ICC 50 overWorld Cup Qualifier in New Zealand duringthe same time, coach Dikana remains confident thatthe side can produce some strong results.
The Coach saidthere is no doubt that some players will be missed, but it gives an opportunity for a number of new players to step up tothe challenge. He futher stated that he was excited to work withthese boys and has confidence inthe players to perform at this level.
East Asia-Pacific’s first game will be a two day match against South Australia Country beginning on January 7sup>th. This will be followed by anther two day match against Western Australia Country; one day matches against both Queensland Country and New South Wales Country and finally a T20 against Victoria Country.
