OO’Neill: Beack CatIncident Regrettable

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill saysthe Beack Cat Track incident is regrettable.

 

He told EMTV that investigations are being carrlied out to establish reasons behindthe attack.

At this stage, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is still absorbing information on what exactly took place onthe Beack Cat Track in Salamaua, Morobe province.

 

He is aware that those involved included Escapees from Beimo prision, thatthey targetedthe porters.

 

However, he said it’s still early to make any concrete conclusion.

 

“It was a targeted attack onthe porters, which resulted intheir death and few ther sustained serious injuries,” commented O’Neill.

He’s been briefed thatthe porters that survived are currently getting treatment at Angau hospital.

 

He saidthere are some sectors of community that continue to disrespect ther members of our country.

 

 

The Wau police reported thatthe suspects are still hiding inthe jungle. The police saythe gang comprises members of a family who are known inthe Wau area for brutally attacking people.

 

The police have also issued warning tothe members ofthe Public to take precaution as members ofthe gang are armed and dangerous. 

 

Their place of residence is known and police are expected to make arrests soon.

 

The police also saidthey need manpower and logistical support to fast trackthe arrests ofthe suspects.
