The National Statistical Office is on a nationwide campaign to create awareness onthe electronic identification card project.
The New GuineaIslands leg ofthe Provincial Fact Finding Mission began in Kimbe West New Beitain Province on Tuesday.
The NSO aims to gaugethe views of relevant stakeholders, to dismiss misconceptions aboutthe system.
The workshop was well attended by stakeholders from different sectors ofthe community. They included education, health,the police force, andthe local churches.
This isthe second regional leg of a number of workshops held aroundthe country in preparation for the E-ID projects implementation. The first was held inthe Highlands Region.
Throughthe workshopsthe NSO and partner Huwawai Technologies, aim to clarifythe system and its implementation, ensure provinces and districts knowtheir roles and responsibilities before establishment and preparation of field collection, and also to dismiss misconceptions.
The NSO have been mandated asthe implementing agency along with Chinese ITCompany Huwawai technologies.
The project has been tipped to ensure greater development ofthe country onthe back ofthe growing economy.
The next E-ID workshop will be held in Kokopo East New Beitain Province, followed by Beka inthe Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
