New Acting PPC for Central Province

Central province has a new acting Provincial Police Commander. He is Mr. Laimo Asi.

 

A small ceremony was held atthe Laloki police Station outside Port Moresby, for the announcement of Mr Asi’s appointment.

He was accompanlied by NCD Superintendent Operations Ndranou Perou, and NCD Central Commander Jim Andrews.

 

Their presence was more than just an announcementobutthe new directionthe police force was taking.

 

Mr Asi, a former PPC of New Ireland, said policing under his jurisdiction was going to change.

 

“I want to bring command in control in Central Province because we have lost that for a very long time,” saidInspector Laimo Asi.
 

Mr. Asi highlighted a number of issues he has withnessed which include private escorts for companies, drinking on duty, and police brutality, among thers, that need to stop immediately.

 

He said this needs to happen fromthe Motuan coastlines tothe mountains of Goilala.

An incentive has been given for hard working officers.

 

“As a bonus for any policeman who comes up withthe highest arrests regarding alcohol related, you will win that K500 atthe end of this year,” Asi toldthe Central policemen and women.
 

NCD/Central Commander Jim Andrews saidthe Police Force was coming down hard on misbehaviour, and called for a re-focus on rank and file and discipline.

 

Officers have been urged to support Mr Lai in his appointment and reinforce policing inthe province.
