The Mineral Resources Authority’s to do list for 2015 contains the mammoth task of carrying out its geochemical mapping program nationwide.
This is just one aspect of what MRA is expected to implement apart from its annual responsibilities. MRA staff members were told to work hard as they dedicated the 2015 working year to God. The dedication service was held at the St John’s Anglican Church in downtown Port Moresby. The service was celebrated by Father Danny Guka, who praised God for providing PNG with its natural resources and prayed for those managing this wealth to guard it well.
Leading his staff was the Managing Director for the Mineral Resources Authority, Philip Samar. As this is the third year of the dedication service, he encouraged his staff to continue serving God, the government and the people of Papua New Guinea.
This will be a busy year for the Mineral Resources Authority. It will carry out its normal duties to ensure that all mining companies operate in compliance with mining laws. The Mineral Resources Authority will also conduct a nationwide geochemical mapping program and work to promote the alluvial mining sector.
On top of this, the authority will deliver the PNG Mining Strategic Plan 2015-2020 and execute four revised MOAs for Simberi, Hidden Valley, Tolukuma and Ok Tedi Mine.
