Madang has returned to the Telikom National Soccer League competition, with an impressive one-all draw with Manus Admiralty over the weekend.
Madang FC Club Chairman, Kevin Murray, says the game brings a whole new level, and Madang is set to face the big guns in the business.
He added that the team is inspired with the home game, but has more chances of improving and showcasing the potential of Madang being back in the competition.
“We had many options of strikes but options were turned down”, Murray said.
The visitors found the net first with more pressure on the home side to prove their existence in the competition.
As the match progressed, the home side in Yellow settled and created half chances with surging runs and ball control.
Madang striker, Alwin Komolong, settled the score line before half time, after he was brought down just outside the penalty box.
Madang Governor Jim Kas says the provincial government will support the team and promote soccer in Madang.
Goal scorers were Rodney Mobiha (AFC) and Alvin Komolong (MFC), with ‘Man of Match’ awarded to Michael Foster.
The Madang boys will take on premiers Hekari United, in their next home match.
