The popular schools’ debate bytheInstitute of Business Studies has now expanded to include 12 provinces and nowthere is a call for more to join.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop challenged his colleague governors to linktheir provinces to what he says is a key instrument to human development.
Mr Parkop has gone on board himself with K50, 000.00 commitment.
Governor Parkop was pleased to hear that 12 provinces have jumped on board to participate this year.
School Debate Coordinator Vanie Davies saidtheir goal was to get all 22 provinces to participate which eventually should seethem sening a team froPNG to participate in international debate competitions.
The School Debates will begin next week withthe NCD leg ofthe competition andthen on tothe Central Province.
Also today, Member for Telefomin, Solan Mirisim, today presented K27, 000 to IBe as school fee subsidies for students’from his electorate.
Mr Mirisim said he has put education atthe top of his agenda and will sponsor students’in all tertiary institutions. Student representatives thankedtheir Member for the sponsorship sayingthe onus is onthem to work hard intheir studies.
