The Prima Gulf Isapea team looks to kick-start their season with a ‘first of its kind’ appointment within the PNG NRL. The team will be the first club within the Digicel Cup to recruit players outside of Papua New Guinea.
Based on a dual agreement between the sister provinces of Gulf Province here in PNG, and Ba Province in Fiji, this will also be the first sporting exchange amongst the two.
Coach Bobby Ako is looking forward to utilizing the three big forward recruits, as he believes they will have a good impact within the forward pack.
As the team consists of many debutants, the transition of 3 forwards and 1 utility back, Jone Uneune, Netava Ravokoliwa, Livai Naivogo, and Semi Waniqolo, into the team should be a quiet move.
Governor for Gulf Province, Honourable Haivila Kavo, and Gulf Isapea Chairman, Jacob Ivaroa, were present at the official welcoming today.
