Catholic School Teachers Commissioned

With the eve of the Academic year already upon and thousands of school students preparing for the new year, the teacher’s in the Archdiocese of Port Moresby gathered at the St. Joseph’s parish in Port Moresby to celebrate their commissioning for the new year.

Hundreds of teachers from various Catholic schools throughout Port Moresby gathered at St. Josephs Parish, to welcome the New Year in mass.

 

Technical Schools such as Caritas, Limana, Don Bosco turned up in color including secondary schools- Jubilee, Marianville as well as hosts St. Josephs College

 

St. Johns Primary School students led the offertory procession as representatives from the different schools within the Diocese of Port Moresby, carried in gifts of offering.

 

The key message delivered touched on an awareness and respect for the environment, with Arch Bishop John Ribat stressing the importance of teachers being role models, and encouraging students to learn in a conducive environment.

 

Teacher’s attending the mass also had words of anticipation.

 

Captivating performances were also part of the mass with elementary children from St. Annes in Gerehu showing giving praises in song.

 

With an estimated total of over 600 teachers, the diocese is targeting teachers as a mechanism for change.
