The National Government’s Kumul King Air aircraft landed at Aropa Airport in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville this morning to suspicious onlookers.
Source in Bougainville, said the Kumul was carrying officials from the National Works Department. It is understood this may be to sign contracts for road works in South Bougainville.
Another reliable source said the visit from the Kumul was related to talks over the Panguna Mine.
One Minister from the Autonomous Bougainville Government who wishes not to be named said he was unaware of this trip.
“The visit was a little strange at this time when Government offices and accounts are closed until January 2 of 2016.
The Minister said that such events are to be arranged through the ABG, as the legitimate authority on the ground.
“The Autonomous Bougainville Government is the legitimate authority on ground and any visits are to be made through it. We still have traitors collaborating with the National Government on matters that should be discussed together,” he said.
Meanwhile, President John Momis is believed to be out of the region on medical treatment overseas.
Vice President, Patrick Nisira who is the Acting, was also unaware of this trip, as advised by one of the ABG Minister.
EMTV was unable to contact Mr Nisira for comments.
