Games Baton Relay Ready for Tour around PNG

Leading in to the 2015 Pacific Games, the Oil Search Games Baton Relay is set to kick start tomorrow, 101 days out from the opening of the Games.

The Games relay team led by Tamzin Wardley, will depart on Sunday for the Sandaun province, to begin their provincial visits.

The provinces within the Momase Region will have the privilege of sighting the Relay Baton first; joining the festive celebrations of Papua New Guinea’s sporting ability, in the lead up to the Games, in July.

As the Baton makes its way through the country, after visiting Vanimo and Wewak, the relay team will travel to Madang, before reaching the Highlands region.

Their provincial visits will showcase the culture and tradition of each provinces, as the team visits provincial sites, engaging in sports and community driven activities.

As indicated in the Games Relay team’s media plan, while it has not yet been arranged, there is a possibility that the Games Baton may head offshore to Cairns, Australia, before reaching Port Moresby.
