The government’s Tuition Fee Free (TFF) education will continue this year, an assurance from the Minister for Education, Nick Kuman.
Mr Kuman said that the 10,060 schools in Papua New Guinea will receive their slice of the 300 million kina, due to be released on the second week of February when schools start the academic year.
The O’Neill-Dion government has carried on its free education policy by continuing its Tuition Fee Free policy this year.
Education Minister, Nick Kuman, said there is a lot more money invested into the schools than ever before, including the administration, commodity and the infrastructure components combined.
This year, the government has allocated K605 million for the Tuition Fee Free. K300 million will be released by the first week of school. The money will be allocated between the 10,060 schools in Papua New Guinea.
Minister Kuman said this is the government’s way of increasing access to education. He encouraged more parents to send their daughters to school.
Mr Kuman also said the National Education Board has agreed that no more project fees will be charged. For any school that imposes project fees, their TFFs will be held back until they get their act together.
