Fiji Sevens On Track

Fiji has always been a dominant force in sevens rugby, and this time they aim to prove to the world they are the best. And they plan to do it on the world’s biggest sporting stage, the Olympic Games.

One of Fiji’s strongest rivals, New Zealand, started their campaign at Rio losing to Japan.

They later bounced back to defeat Kenya, but they did not make it past the quarter finals, losing to Fiji 12-7.

In the other quarter final matches, Great Britain defeated Argentina, while South Africa blitzed Australia 22-5.

The semi finals are now set, with Fiji to take on Japan and Great Britain to face South Africa.

Fiji have come into each game as favourite and are certainly living up to expectation, but the surprise package of the tournament Japan has proven that they are no pushover and will be a tough side to beat.
