Balob Teachers College: Elementary Teacher Training Cancelled

The Deputy Principal of Balob has revealed that previous elementary teacher training proposed by Balob Teacher’s College was unsanctioned by the PNG Education Institute.

The training which was supposed to begin in June this year, in Finchhafen, was cancelled. So far, trainees have paid more than K2,000 each in fees.

New sets of training will be conducted by the PNG Education Institute Balob Teacher’s College and Morobe Provincial Education Division.

The first year teachers, who completed six weeks training at Markham District’s Bobong area last year, were requested by the Provincial Education Board to take up another training in June this year with a fee of K 2,800.

More than 200 teachers have paid their fees to Balob Teachers College, in order to attend the training at Heldsbach in Finschahhfen District.

However, Hillary Siamoli, the Deputy Principal Balob teachers college says, the training was cancelled by PNG Education Institute.

The teachers paid a fee of K 1,300 last year to the Provincial Elementary Education Division, in order to attend the training.

According to Siamoli, Balob teachers college who is the host of the program will not proceed with the training.

The Account’s department of the college is working to reimburse fees paid by individual teachers.
