Education is the key

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

Education is the key to transforming Papua New Guinea.

Prime Minister, Peter O&rsquO’Neill, made these remarks during the inaugural Enga Institute of Business Studies (IBS) graduation recently.

He says, education must not be restricted to the rich and privileged people but to every Papua New Guinean.

Enga Province is leading Papua New Guinea in educating its young generation.

The graduation of 27 pioneering students from the Enga IBS campus reaffirms the level of investing from the Enga Provincial Government in education.

Prime Minister, Peter O&rsquO’Neill, acknowledged Enga governor, Peter Ipatas, for his vision for making education a priority.

The government has adopted many of his policies at the national level to introduce the free education in the last three years.

Budget allocation increased from less than one billion to over two billion kina in 2015. This is 20 per cent of the national budget.

Prime Minister O&rsquO’Neill says, “this commitment will be maintained by the government to see a highly educated workforce serving and developing the country.”
