Earthquake in Madang

An earthquake struck Madang 140 kilometers West North West of Middle Ramu, Madang Province yesterday morning.

The Department of Mineral Policy and Geohazards Management reported that it had a magnitude of 6 point 2 and 77 kilometers deep.

 

There was no report of damage however, it was felt on Karkar Island and parts of East Sepik and the Highlands Provinces.

 

The earthquake occurred on land and there was no tsunami threat.
