Duma Commends State Owned Enterprises

At a meet and greet event last night hosted by Kumul Consolidated Holdings, the all-encompassing authority for state owned assets and enterprises (SOEs), Minister for Public Enterprise and State Investment, William Duma, took the opportunity to commend the heads of the SOEs who were present at the event.

He commended the CEO’s and board members of SOEs for their leadership and management during the political instability of recent times, singling out Air Niugini and PNG Power for their peaceful preempting of planned strikes by several of their respective employees.

Duma commended the organisations for sticking to business as usual amidst the recent political ruckus.

Earlier this month, after a fleet of flights were cancelled, rumours and social media commentary concluded that Air Niugini pilots were on strike and wouldn’t come back to work until Prime Minister O’Neill stepped down.

However, the national carrier released a statement that read that the delayed and cancelled services were due to technical and crewing issues which were jotted down to usual operational challenges.
