Madang MP and Police Minister Nixon Duban says conditions set by DSIP make it hard to off-set funds for school fees when requests are made.
Mr Duban saidthe funds emphasizes are infrastructure development only.
He clariflied this when presenting a cheque to Madang students’attending University oPNG on Tuesday.
Mr Duban was frank withthe students’as he explainedthe procedures involved to convincethe Joint – District Budget Priority Committee to allocate funds for school fees. He said DSIP funds are locked – down for infrastructure.
Hethen presented K34, 000 tothe President of Madang Students Association Emmanuel Wes.
Mr Duban toldthe students’hey must give – back to Madang District. He said this becausethey have sacrificed funds for infrastructure development whenthey decided to pay school fees inthe first instance.
The students’were grateful for the gesture but asthe funding is restricted to students’from Madang District,they want ther Madang MP’s to assistthem too.
