Deputy Opposition Leader on 2016

By Rositta Liosi – EMTV Online

The Deputy Opposition Leader, Sam Basil, has been an outspoken critic of the National government on corruption and governance issues.

At the Opposition’s Christmas party, which was held at the Parliament’s State Function room on Friday, the 18 December, his remarks on the New Year were critically optimistic.

“We all will come back refreshed in the next year, and that I am looking forward to taking the fight much stronger this time against the current regime for a change in Government,” he said.

He added that the controversial decisions, serial breaches of the constitution and other laws, undermining the rule of law and democracy, among others warranted a change in government.

“I always believe in change. I was a party to the current government and now that this government has lost the confidence and the trust of the MPs and their people, I am looking forward to becoming a party to another government which is set to be formed,” he said.

The Member of Parliament for Bulolo Open says he is ready to continue and relentlessly pursue unfavourable Government decisions and actions in the New Year.

Basil thanked the Opposition staff for their loyalty and service and wished fellow citizens a Merry Christmas on behalf of his family, Pangu Pati, and his people of Bulolo.
