The Department of Health held its dedication service in Port Moresby today at the Sioni Kami Memorial church to formally commence the year.
The department, under the leadership of Secretary Pascoe Kase, is determined to contribute positively to the people of Papua New Guinea this year.
The theme of the service was “Character, the moral force of leadership” and was led by Reverend Joseph Walters.
Present at the service were senior members from the department, representatives from the nurses and doctors associations, partners and stakeholders.
Secretary Kase wants his team to be more focused this year.
He said the department has seen many positive changes in 2013 but there are still many areas that need improvement.
Kase wants his members to be focused and punctual and stressed that people must be the centre of their attention.
The health team was also encouraged by Pastor Joseph Walters to communicate, collaborate and stand united to serve the people.
He said, health is one of the significant departments in the nation and is pleased that its management is starting the year with God.
Reverend Walters then anointed the senior leadership with olive oil brought from Israel.
He prayed and dedicated the team to God.
