Central Provincial Games Opening Ceremony

Laloki High School in the Central Province played host to the opening of the Central Province Games as teams from the five districts of Abau, Rigo, Kairuku, Hiri and Goilala all vied for selection into the provincial squad for the PNG Games.

 

Laloki High School welcomed over 200 athletes and officials to the Official Opening of the Central Provincial Games.

 

Marching in, wearing resplendent colours, teams from the five districts had travelled in overnight to be part of the ceremony which also served as the kick-off for their fundraising drive.

 

Goilala MP, Daniel Mona, as well as Deputy Governor for Central, Desmond Baira, were present for the opening.

 

Deputy Provincial Administrator and Team Central General Manager, Edward Kila opened the ceremony and challenged athletes to strive for gold as they prepare for Lae.

 

Mr. Mona, appealed to his counterparts in parliament to come forward and assist Team Central’s preparations

 

Team Central will be participating in 14 of the 26 codes in the games, including Volleyball, Taekwondo and Athletics.

 

With the games 10 months away, Team Central believes that early preparation is the key to their success.
