The Morobe Disaster Officers say the body of an unidentified man that was found floating outside Vocco Point wharf in Lae, could have come from as far as the Milne Bay Province.
They say in Morobe alone, there are more than three boats missing rescuers assume they capsized in rough sea some passengers onboard are still missing at sea.
The identification of the man that was found outside of the Voco Point wharf yesterday is still a mystery.
The circumstance surrounding his death is also a mystery.
From what we saw yesterday, the body had been decaying in the ocean and may be difficult to identify.
The man was found yesterday floating outside the Voco Point Wharf and dragged into Lae’s old yacht club jetty.
The body has brought to attention the increasing number of people missing out at sea. Morobe Provincial Disaster Office has the difficult task of finding missing people.
The Provincial Disaster Office said the body was found yesterday and could have come from as far as the Milne Bay Province.
The coastline of Morobe has been marred with boats capsizing in rough seas.
The disaster office reports that it is mainly due to ignorance from boat skippers and the passengers.
Meanwhile, a policy has been passed by the National Executive Council to regulate small boats.
The Morobe PEC will have a board council for the province.
