The awareness for the Biometric data registration in Lae has started and will continue for the next two weeks.
The awareness is to dispel rumours of the 666, the mark of the beast and prepare people in Lae communities before the program starts.
This comes after public raised concerns over security risks and the people's inability to deal with the biometric program.
The awareness was launched on Monday with a motorcade around the city calling on the public’s cooperation.
The awareness was aimed at educating the Lae public on the use of the biometric registration and its benefits that it will have on Lae city.
Several teams of trained volunteers will be deployed to all the wards in both the Ahi and Lae urban LLGs, to talk to the people, answer questions, and get feedbacks and comMen’s about the biometric program.
The awareness will be carried out for three weeks, and it will cover every suburbs and settleMen’s including major business houses in the city.
Earlier this week, the Lae MP, Loujaya Kouza, in response to the rife in petty crimes in Lae, reaffirms her stand that biometric is the way forward in solving Law and’Order problems.
The biometric registration has received vast criticisms and at some instances, misinterpreted by many as 666 or the mark of the beast.
For the next two weeks, the awareness that will be conducted in Lae is expected to gain people's confidence in the biometric registration program.
