Baki Satisfied with Police Response to Prison Breakout

By Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, has expressed satisfaction to how the Lae Police responded to the mass break in Lae yesterday.

Baki told EMTV News that he was briefed by the Metropolitan Superintendent of Lae, Anthony Wagambie Jr, during the massive manhunt of the escapees, and commended the effort of both the police and the correctional service.

Baki said all disciplinary forces must work together to prevent such issues happening again in the future as the country is moving in to host major international events in the coming months.

“We must not let this happen again. We have international events happening around the country and this issue of jail breakouts is straining our resources,” Baki said.
