The Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday hosted the Australia Awards information session in Port Moresby.
The Australia Awards program is an initiative of the Australian government.
The Australia Awards in PNG aims to contribute to the country’s long term development by awarding scholarships in areas that align with PNG’s development needs.
Applications for the prestigious scholarships for 2017 were opened on October 5.
Those who attended the information session today were told that the scholarships are highly competitive.
Selections are based on academic ability, leadership, relevance to PNG’s national development priorities, and overall preparedness to study in Australia.
This year the Australian government offered around 120 Australia Award scholarships.
All young Papua New Guineans, especially people living in the provinces, living with a disability and women, to pursue an opportunity of a lifetime by applying for the scholarships.
The Australia Awards PNG Information Centre located Downtown, is equipped with resource materials for those in the Nation’s Capital.
Applications for the Australia Awards scholarships for 2017 will close on the February 29.
