AFL Oldies Revive Code in Hoskins

By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

The Lolovulai Aussie Rules pre-season is set to begin in the Hoskins LLG of West New Britain Province.

Former AFL stars took the field in a move to revive the code in the Nakanai area.

This sees villages along the Hoskins Local Level Government coming together.

Eight teams will be taking part in the off season competition.

The tournament was launched at Malalia village recently with a friendly game, and is expected to end with finals played in December.

The former AFL stars were applauded for the initiative of mobilising themselves and forming the team.

The Lolovulai competition was spearheaded by Justice Elenas Batari to revive the former glory of good old Aussie Rules in the Nakanai area.

“It is also a brilliant avenue to encourage that generation to keep physically fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle”, Batari said.

Justice Batari said the code can be revived and will help new talent to aim for the best to play in other competitions outside Kimbe and PNG.
