Whilst Christmas Eve celebrations in Port Moresby were in full swing the previous night, the police were out on patrol on their usual Christmas operations.
Some of the areas in which the police patrolled on Monday night, were six mile and East Boroko.
The police Christmas operations were smooth, except for a few hiccups, where the police open fired on a taxi-driver who escaped from a road checkpoint.
Attempts at pursuing the taxi driver were unsuccessful.
So far, compared to last year, the police Christmas Eve operations were successful, and no major conflicts or accidents were reported in the areas where police patrolled.
