Commemorating the World Radio Day on Tuesday, Minister for Communication Sam Basil announced new radio stations will be established in Jiwaka and Hela Province.
The announcement comes amidst a work plan for the ICT and Energy sectors which the O’Neill-Bale Government will undertake in the next 5 years.
Minister Basil said radio provides a platform for public debate, education and to inform the public on current issues of development.
He also highlighted the significance of market the World Radio day as radio is medium of communication that reaches all corners of the country, including remote areas.
