Recent studies by Marie Stopes PNG have revealed a primary reason for choosing family planning methods was the economic hardships couples face, when burdened with children they can no longer afford.
According to Maarten van de Reep, Country Director of Marie Stopes PNG, the importance of providing access to high quality modern methods of contraception cannot be overstated.
Marie Stopes celebrated World Vasectomy Day on Friday in the hopes of enhancing awareness and doing away with false information.
By increasing access to vasectomy and providing accurate information, they aim to get men engaged in talking about vasectomy as a family planning solution. It is often portrayed as “risky procedure.”
Professor Glen Mola, Head of Reproductive Health and Obstetrician Gynecologist, assured men that the procedure had no side effects and would take only a day to heal.
Enabling men and woman to keep affordable family sizes, can save lives, stop poverty and support sustainable development.
