The Waigani National Court has allowed Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP, Philip Undialu, to remain as Hela Governor until a further court hearing.
Justice Colin Makail said the court will not deal with any interim applications for injunction.
Makail made this remark today in court after Komo-Magarima MP, Francis Potape, filed an interim injunction challenging Undialu’s appointment as Hela Governor.
The tussle for the Hela Governor’s seat continues following the death of the late Anderson Agiru.
On July 5, the Hela Provincial Assembly met and appointed Undialu as the new Hela Governor. This did not go down well with Potape.
Due to the severity of the situation; the National Court will not deal with any interim injunction and instead take their time to determine a decision.
The court said whether Undialu was appointed rightly or wrongly in July, he will still maintain as Hela Governor until the matter returns to court on August 24.
When it returns, the court will determine Undialu’s appointment.
