In three weeks time the Royal Papua Yacht Club will host the Three Peaks Challenge, and event showcasing the three disciplines of sailing, running and swimming.
Similar to the ironman or triathlon, the three peaks event was recently revived after a long hiatus.
It isn’t for the faint hearted; the race consists of grueling swimming and running courses, which include a swim and run on Manubada Island, Lolorua Island and the final run to the top of Burns Peak and back to the Royal Papua Yacht Club.
The event is expected to attract up to 70 competitors, and various yachts as well.
The three peaks event is scheduled for August 13 and there are already plans in place to take the racing event to greater heights in the coming years.
