Two Recipients of Engineering Scholarship

Two Papua New Guinean students will have the chance to study in one of Malaysia’s top universities.

Sime Darby, through New Britain Palm Oil Limited, has sponsored an engineering scholarship to help PNG develop its agriculture industry.

New Britain Palm Oil have their own cadet scholarship program but for the first time Sime Darby, a 100 per cent shareholder of New Britain Palm Oil (NBPO), will be sponsoring Jamal Iama and Joel Koitaka to study at the National University of Malaysia.

Robert Nilkare, Country Manager of NBPO, said there has been immense stress placed on developing the agriculture industry in PNG and this is NBPO playing its part in developing the industry.

Not only will they sponsor students to study overseas but also in at national universities and colleges in PNG.

Both scholarship recipients were thankful for the opportunity given to them. They were both studying Electrical Engineering at the PNG University of Technology.

They will be studying for four years in Malaysia, and while they are not obliged to come back and work for NBPO, the company hopes they will.
